After posing for a picture with President Joe Biden in his Chiefs No. 46 jersey, Mahomes hilariously stepped in to prevent Travis Kelce from speaking at the presidential podium.
The moment was shared with Mahomes‘ 5.6 million Instagram followers, as the star quarterback documented the team‘s experience with videos and pictures.
The visit was the first for the team since it won Super Bowl LIV over the San Francisco 49ers in 2020, and the occasion delivered more than just a plaque for Biden‘s office.
The players revealed their stylish attire, with Mahomes and Kelce donning suits and the rest of the group opting for the team–branded tracksuit.
Kelce, ever the outspoken one, made sure his voice was heard during his time at the White House.
The eight–time Pro Bowler famously called out Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval during the playoffs this season with a comical catchphrase. And after grabbing the mic from Mahomes, he taunted Bengals fans: ‘Burrowhead my a**. It‘s Mahomes‘ house.’
Biden also made sure to mention his wife Jill, a longtime Eagles fan, during the visit.
The President joked that in light of his wife still not agreeing with the crucial holding penalty called against her team in the Super Bowl, the Kelce family – with brothers Jason and Travis both playing in the big game – represents hope for families everywhere.
The players couldn‘t help but have fun during their visit to the White House, with Mahomes capturing the team‘s strut through the building. Seven players performed the famous Memphis Grizzlies‘ tunnel dance down a red carpet, with Skyy Moore among those grooving his way through the White House corridors.
The endearing visit was just rewards for Kansas City, who overcame various hurdles – including winning Super Bowl LIV without practice squads – to become champions.
Fans and players were thrilled to have their team at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and after the comical display from Mahomes, there‘s no doubt that the Chiefs will be welcomed once more in the future.
