On July 26, 2023, Hunter Biden arrived at Federal Court and was expected to take a plea deal for two misdemeanor tax counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax.

However, Judge Maryellen Noreika asked federal prosecutors if it was possible that more charges could be lodged against Hunter in the future.
A prosecutor reportedly told the judge that another investigation was “very much ongoing” and that any new charges would not be covered under the plea agreement.
From The Post Millennial:
Noreika reportedly asked if the plea deal would include a potential FARA charge, which requires those working as agents of foreign entities to register, and the prosecutor replied that the deal would not.
She then reportedly asked Hunter Biden’s lawyers if they could bring a FARA charge, “then what does this mean?” The attorneys reportedly replied, “then there’s no deal.”
The prosecutor replied to that, “then there is no deal.”
“So Biden’s team said that the plea agreement, as far as they understood, it was now null and void.”
CNN was aghast at what took place.

There are more reports that the judge was highly skeptical of the deal.
Fox News contributor Sol Wisenberg reported that prosecutors told the judge the deal was unprecedented.

Until the plea deal was put on hold and Hunter entered a not guilty plea. It was a wild few hours.

The White House must have called but then the judge decided she wanted nothing to do with this nonsense (sarcasm…sort of).
You know this whole incident has Joe Biden fuming, and you can tell by the way he discusses it.
First, Biden will smile, but his temper comes out if he engages with the press.
As of the writing of this post, the plea still appears to be on, but we now know that there are even more charges on the way.
We have learned that Hunter may face more criminal charges once the investigation is complete.
