On November 28, 2023 a bizarre social media post was published on President Joe Biden’s X page and it led to a lot of confusion.
“Hamas unleashed a terrorist attack because they fear nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace. To continue down the path of terror, violence, killing, and war is to give Hamas what they seek. We can’t do that,” the post read.

Most people thought the post meant the administration would be making a big policy change.
However, a few hours later the White House was scrambling to explain post.
From the Jewish Insider:
For several hours on Tuesday night, a tweet from President Joe Biden’s campaign account put observers of the Israel-Hamas war on high alert. The three sentences came from a speech Biden gave on Saturday about the hostage releases.
But read on their own, it was unclear to many whether Biden was outlining a policy shift — and whether he was, for the first time, embracing progressive activists’ calls for a ceasefire.
But a senior Biden administration official told Jewish Insider that the White House’s support for Israel and its military campaign against Hamas remains unwavering, and that “this is not a change in policy,” noting that it came from a longer speech.
What was even stranger is that Biden made the comments as Hamas still has an estimated 125 hostages.
So far only one American has been released but there are talks of the ceasefire being extended. Meanwhile, there are questions about who actually wrote the post and if Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was drunk posting again.
