Did US Funds Secretly Fuel Israeli Protests Against Netanyahu?

Did US Funds Secretly Fuel Israeli Protests Against Netanyahu?

Biden administration caught red-handed funneling millions to Israeli groups working to overthrow Netanyahu while lecturing the world about “democracy.”

At a Glance

  • House committees are investigating six organizations that received U.S. federal funding for alleged interference in Israeli politics
  • Biden’s State Department and USAID allegedly transferred tens of millions to Israeli NGOs working against Netanyahu’s government
  • The investigation centers on whether grants were intended to influence Netanyahu’s standing during the 2023 judicial reform protests
  • This mirrors similar accusations from 2015 when the Obama administration was accused of meddling in Israeli elections

Your Tax Dollars at Work: Toppling Foreign Governments

While Americans struggle with inflation and a border crisis, the Biden administration apparently found the time and money to meddle in Israel’s internal affairs. Two U.S. House committees are now investigating claims that Biden’s State Department and USAID funneled taxpayer dollars to organizations actively working to oust Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees have targeted six specific organizations that received federal funding between 2021 and 2024 – precisely when protests against Netanyahu’s judicial reforms were at their peak.

This investigation raises serious questions about whether the Biden administration has been using your hard-earned tax dollars to undermine a democratically elected leader of our closest ally in the Middle East. The committees are demanding documentation and communications regarding funding applications and expenditures, with particular focus on whether these grants were deliberately used to influence Netanyahu’s political standing during the heated judicial reform protests of 2023. If true, this isn’t just bad diplomacy – it’s potentially criminal interference in another nation’s affairs.

Follow the Money: Where Did the Millions Go?

The money trail is particularly damning. According to the investigation, organizations like Itach Ma’aki received over $8,000 from the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem for a supposedly innocent project in the Negev – yet somehow found time to participate in anti-Netanyahu protests. Even more egregious, Photo Israel pocketed nearly $80,000 from USAID for a “photography program” while simultaneously holding exhibitions supporting the anti-Netanyahu movement. These aren’t coincidences; they’re breadcrumbs leading straight back to Washington.

“attempting to undermine Israel’s democratically elected government” – Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Brian Mast (R-FL)

The biggest recipient appears to be Sikkuy-Aufoq, which raked in over $1 million from the State Department, claiming the funds were for “local authority strengthening and crime reduction.” Yet somehow, this organization also found itself organizing demonstrations against Netanyahu. What a coincidence! I’m sure that million dollars had absolutely nothing to do with their sudden interest in political activism. The committees are rightfully questioning whether these grants violated federal law and abused taxpayer resources for partisan political purposes.

History Repeats: The Obama-Biden Playbook

If this all sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Back in 2015, the Obama administration – with Biden as Vice President – was accused of similar shenanigans through the group OneVoice. Apparently, Democrat administrations have a habit of trying to pick Israel’s leaders while simultaneously lecturing the world about “democracy” and “respecting sovereignty.” The hypocrisy would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. While loudly condemning “election interference” at home, the Biden administration appears to have no qualms about meddling in Israel’s domestic politics.

Not surprisingly, the organizations in question are already in full damage-control mode. Blue and White Future flat-out denies receiving any federal funding, with spokesperson Libi Zipser claiming all donations and activities are legally supervised and audited. Their defensive posture is telling, however, as they dismiss the congressional inquiry as based on “false assumptions” and part of a “toxic propaganda machine.” That’s an awful lot of indignation for an innocent party, wouldn’t you say?

The Senate’s Next Move

As the House committees dig deeper into this potential scandal, all eyes are now on the Senate to see if they’ll launch their own investigation. The involvement of both chambers would signal serious bipartisan concern about these allegations of political interference. The letters from the committees also take aim at USAID and the State Department’s broader funding track record, alleging they have a history of funding groups aligned with terrorist organizations and those promoting antisemitism – a troubling pattern if accurate.

While Biden and his administration love to lecture Americans about “threats to democracy,” they seem remarkably comfortable using taxpayer dollars to meddle in the democratic processes of our allies. Americans deserve to know if their government is secretly working to undermine foreign leaders it doesn’t like – especially when those leaders are democratically elected officials of our closest allies. The investigation continues, but one thing is clear: when it comes to respecting democracy abroad, the Biden administration’s actions speak louder than its words.
