Let’s dive into the latest political drama that’s making headlines across the nation. Vice President Kamala Harris is under the spotlight, facing sharp criticism from conservatives and supporters of former President Donald Trump. The reason? She seems to be “copying” Trump’s campaign pledge to eliminate taxes on service industry workers’ tips.
At a recent campaign rally in Las Vegas, Harris made the same pledge Trump did while at Las Vegas. She declared that if she became president, she would fight to eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.
James Blair, the political director for Trump’s campaign, didn’t hold back. He took to social media, posting on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Now is a good time to remind everyone that #CopyCatKamala’s administration rolled out a new enforcement program JUST LAST YEAR to collect more taxes on tips! She could stop it now… but she won’t, because she’s a dishonest fraud!”
Blair’s fiery remarks refer to a plan introduced by the Biden-Harris administration last year aimed at improving tax compliance on tips through a voluntary reporting system. This program, known as the Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement (SITCA), was seen by some as a crackdown on service workers’ earnings. Critics argue that Harris’s new promise contradicts the administration’s previous actions, making her support for tip tax elimination appear disingenuous.
Adding fuel to the fire, Trump reminded everyone that he was the first to propose eliminating taxes on tips. He made this promise earlier in the summer during a rally in, coincidentally, Las Vegas. Trump’s message was clear: he believes workers in the service industry deserve a break from tip taxation, and he’s committed to making that happen if re-elected.
But it doesn’t stop there. Trump went on to accuse Harris of using his idea for political gain, claiming she won’t follow through if she gets into office. “Kamala Harris, whose ‘Honeymoon’ period is ENDING, and is starting to get hammered in the Polls, just copied my NO TAXES ON TIPS Policy,” Trump wrote on X. He then added, “The difference is, she won’t do it, she just wants it for Political Purposes! This was a TRUMP idea—She has no ideas, she can only steal from me.”
But it gets even worse…Check out the New York Post cover.
