So just a little background, Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is a former mixed martial arts fighter and very capable of defending himself.
During a hearing Mullin, who’s a self-made millionaire starting out as a plumber and over time and smart investments hit it big. The Senator was questioning Teamster General President Sean O’Brien. The Senator read out loud a post written by the labor union head that challenged the Senator to a fight.
“I wish he was in the truck with me when I was building my plumbing company, myself, and when my wife was running the office,” said Mullin, “because I sure remember working pretty hard and long hours.”
Mullin continued to read O’Brien’s earlier comments, which read “Quit the tough guy act in these Senate hearings. You know where to find me, any place, any time, cowboy.”
Mullin, addressing O’Brien, said “Sir, this is a time, this is a place. You wanna run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults, we can finish it here.”
“Okay that’s fine, perfect,” O’Brien replied.
Mullin asked, “you wanna do it now?”
“I’d love to do it right now,” answered O’Brien.
“Alright, stand your butt up then,” Mullin said, as he stood and took off his wedding ring.
“You stand your butt up… big guy,” O’Brien stammered.
“Hold it. No, no, no, sit down. Sit down! You’re a United State senator, sit down,” Sanders yelled. “This is a hearing. God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress, let’s not —”
Mullin cut Senator Bernie Sanders off and tried to get the Teamsters official to do a charity cage match with. But, Bernie shut it all down.
“Excuse me, hold it. Sen. Mullin, I have the mic. If you have questions on any economic issues, anything that was said, go for it. We’re not here to talk about physical abuse,” Sanders said.
A fight almost broke out in a Senate hearing.
Markwayne Mullin read a tweet from Teamster boss Sean O’Brien which challenged Mullin to a fight. Mullin said he was ready to settle things right here, right now.
