Libs Want UFC Champ Stripped Of Belt After Exchange With Reporter

UFC Middleweight Capion Sean Strickland is a very crass, outspoken, and many say just mean guy.

Strickland has a lot of baggage and is open about it. He was severely abused as a child, and you can watch the segment below where he explains some of it. The discussion below took place on a podcast after another fighter mocked the trauma Strickland went through as a child, and Strickland attacked him.

Sean is in Toronto to defend his title in UFC 297 against Dricu Du Plessis, and during a media event, a reporter brought up comments he made about having a gay son (Strickland made the comments a couple years ago). The reporter said he was an ally of the LGBT community, that Toronto has a large gay and lesbian community, and that he should give an answer.

The question was a clear trap, and Sean went off.

“Well then you’re a weak f—ing man,” Strickland said. “You’re part of the f—ing problem. You elected Justin Trudeau. When he seized the bank accounts, like you’re just f—ing pathetic. The fact that you have no f—ing backbone and as he shutdown your f—ing country and seized bank accounts, you ask me some stupid s— like that. Go f— yourself. Move the f— on man.”

The reporter tried to goad Strickland more and he took the bait.

Some have said what Strickland said was cruel for a professional work function. But people need to realize what that the way Strickland acts is not a persona for the fight game; that’s really him. He doesn’t profess to be nice, and you can ask his former training partners (he struggles to get them because he beats on them). There’s is a long library of cruel things that Strickland has said.

However, I guarantee you that the reporter had never been talked to like that.

“Here’s the thing about Bud Light … Ten years ago, to be trans, was a mental f—ing illness,” Strickland said. “And now, all of a sudden, people like you f—ing weaseled your way into the world … you are an infection. You are the definition of weakness. Everything that is wrong with the world is because of f—ing you. And the best thing is, the world is not buying your f—ing bulls— you’re f—ing peddling.”

“The world is not saying, you know what, you’re right, ‘Chicks have d—s.’ The world is not saying that. The world is saying, no, there are two genders. I don’t want my kids being taught about who they could f— in school. I don’t want my kids being taught about their sexual preference. This guy is a f—ing enemy.”

Writers in the LGBTQ community immediately called for Strickland to be suspended from UFC 297.

It was later learned that the same member of the media asked another fighter on the card, Mayra Bueno Silva, who is a lesbian, about Sean Strickland’s comments, and she shut him down, saying that she loves him.

There have also been calls for ESPN, which has a contract for exclusive rights to the UFC, to condemn the UFC star.

Alexander Lee is also getting pushback over his question, which was clearly to get in the limelight and attack Strickland; he knew the response he would get. Remember, the UFC (and most big MMA organizations) is a vast global sport with some superstars from all different cultures including the Middle East.

Some are wondering if Lee would ask other fighters the same type of questions.
