Democrats are moving to silence Lake just like they have been trying to since former President Trump.
On January 30, 2023, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes referred former Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake to the state Attorney General for alleged violations of election law stemming from her tweets containing voter signatures.
For the last few months, Lake has been adamant that a conspiracy is in motion and she won the 2022 election just like Donald Trump did in 2020. Her tweet being scrutinized by the secretary purports that 40,000 ballots were illegal as evidenced by voters’ signatures which violates existing laws say Democrats.
“Nothing in this section shall preclude public inspection of voter registration records at the office of the county recorder for the purpose prescribed by this section, except that … the records containing a voter’s signature … shall not be accessible or reproduced by any person other than the voter…” the office cited in the referral.
Lake has fired back and responded to the allegations.
Lake’s campaign, Kari Lake War Room, tweeted Monday night, “Adrian Fontes wants Kris Mayes to investigate & potentially imprison @KariLake for the ‘crime’ of … sharing signature verification evidence that was presented before the @AZSenateGOP & is currently in her lawsuit.”

However, Lake swung back after hearing she was referred for criminal investigation.
Hmmm….
Does ANYONE remember WHO was the County Recorder in charge of the 2020 Maricopa County Election where those signatures were pulled for the recent AZ Senate public testimony? https://t.co/zNucH0OY8E— Kari Lake (@KariLake) January 31, 2023
She also called out Fontes…

Fontes himself has faced his own election-challenging lawsuit from former GOP opponent Mark Finchem, who lost to Fontes by over 100,000 votes in November’s midterm. The suit was dismissed in December, with Maricopa County Judge Melissa Julian ruling that nothing Finchem presented “constitutes ‘misconduct’ sufficient to survive dismissal.'”
At this time the Arizona AG has not announced if he will pursue a grand jury to investigate Lake.
