Chinese nationals from Wuhan are importing hidden bio-materials into America’s top universities while another Chinese agent is shipping guns directly to North Korea – all happening right under our noses while the FBI scrambles to play catch-up.

America’s Universities: The New Front Line in Chinese Biowarfare?
Just when you thought our border security couldn’t get any more laughable, we now have Chinese nationals from Wuhan – yes, THAT Wuhan – smuggling mysterious biological materials into our universities. Chengxuan Han, a PhD student from the College of Life Science and Technology at Huazhong University in Wuhan, has been charged with smuggling undisclosed biological materials into a University of Michigan laboratory. Because apparently, we haven’t learned a single lesson from the past few years about mysterious biological substances coming from Wuhan.
According to authorities, Han sent four packages containing concealed biological materials to Michigan throughout 2024 and 2025. When caught, she made false statements to customs officers and had conveniently deleted content from her electronic devices just three days prior to her arrival. Nothing suspicious there! She later admitted the materials were related to roundworms – because that’s exactly what America needs right now: more foreign parasites. Han is the THIRD Chinese national charged with similar biological smuggling activities in Michigan within a single week. Are we running a university or a bioweapons exchange program?
Communist Party Members Smuggling Crop-Killing Pathogens
If one Chinese bio-smuggler wasn’t enough, the FBI also arrested Yunqing Jian and her boyfriend Zunyong Liu for smuggling Fusarium graminearum, a pathogen that devastates crops and causes massive economic damage. Liu was caught with the pathogen hidden in his backpack at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Initially, he played dumb about the substance, but later admitted to smuggling it intentionally for research at the University of Michigan. Jian, identified as a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party, has been detained as a flight risk while Liu remains at large.
“The alleged actions of these Chinese nationals — including a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party — are of the gravest national security concerns.” – U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon
Electronic messages revealed the couple discussing how to smuggle seeds into the United States. The University of Michigan, quick to protect its reputation, condemned the actions and insisted it had no Chinese government funding related to the research. Sure, and I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. The pattern is clear: Chinese nationals with ties to the CCP are systematically smuggling potentially dangerous biological materials into our country, targeting our premier research institutions.
From Bio-Smuggling to Arming North Korea
As if the bio-smuggling wasn’t enough, on the same day Han was arrested, another Chinese national, Shenghua Wen, pleaded guilty to exporting firearms and military items to North Korea. Wen came to the U.S. on a student visa in 2012 and then decided to stay illegally after it expired. While living here illegally, he took instructions directly from North Korean officials to obtain and smuggle firearms, sensitive technology, and ammunition from the United States to North Korea via China.
“The alleged smuggling of biological materials by this alien from a science and technology university in Wuhan, China—to be used at a University of Michigan laboratory—is part of an alarming pattern that threatens our security,” – U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr.
This enterprising illegal alien shipped at least three containers of firearms from California to China, which were then forwarded to North Korea in 2023. But Wen was just getting started. He used money wired from North Korean officials – approximately $2 million – to purchase a firearms business in Houston and was planning to ship another 60,000 rounds of 9mm ammunition to the rogue nation. He also acquired sensitive technology including chemical threat identification devices. All while living illegally in the United States for over a decade. Tell me again how our national security is being protected?
China’s Predictable Response: Nothing to See Here
The Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, in classic communist fashion, has expressed “concerns” over U.S. law enforcement actions and opposes what they call “political manipulation” of these cases. Because apparently, catching their nationals red-handed smuggling pathogens and arming our enemies is just American “political manipulation.” Their foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian offered this gem of diplomatic double-speak: “The Chinese government has always required Chinese citizens overseas to strictly abide by local laws.” Except when they’re smuggling biological materials or shipping guns to North Korea, I suppose.
While our universities continue to welcome Chinese researchers with open arms and our borders remain as porous as a kitchen sieve, hostile foreign powers are exploiting every vulnerability in our system. The real question isn’t whether more Chinese agents are operating in our country – it’s how many haven’t been caught yet. Between bio-smuggling from Wuhan and arming our enemies, one has to wonder: is anyone in Washington actually serious about protecting America anymore? Or are we just waiting for the next “surprise” attack or pandemic to act shocked all over again?
