Fed Up Shoppers Fed Up, Trap Robbers – WATCH

Some theives got a little more than they bargined for when fed shoppers sprung into action.

The moment captured in a now viral TikTok video that has garnered over 5 million views and 245,000 likes.

The video, shared by TikTok user ptodropout, shows a group of people barricading the entrance of Perfumania while four suspects, trapped inside, desperately search for an escape route. In a tense standoff, the suspects interact with the crowd outside, trying to negotiate their release.

Despite a police response time of 30 minutes, the shoppers quick thinking forced the suspects to abandon their stolen goods and flee through the back door. In the video, one of the shoplifters is even seen pleading with the Good Samaritans to let them out.

“South Precinct detectives are continuing to investigate Saturday afternoon’s attempted shoplifting at Perfumania in the Tanger Outlets,” authorities stated. “Four suspects, who employees said had visited twice in the last week, attempted to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, but bystanders held the front door to block them from exiting. The suspects were able to leave through the back door but dropped all of the merchandise in order to exit empty-handed.”

The incident began just before 3 p.m. on June 1, according to Metro Nashville Police spokesperson Brooke Reese. A 911 call reported a fight outside Victoria’s Secret, leading authorities to Perfumania, where the shoplifting was occurring. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

This isn’t the first time Tanger Outlets has been targeted by thieves. In 2023, shortly after its grand opening, the outlet was hit by shoplifters during the busy holiday season. On November 12, a man and a woman stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jackets from Michael Kors. According to police, high-end stores have become prime targets for thieves looking to either sell the stolen goods or keep them for personal use.
